| (GKS), the Church of the Living God, an International Christian Organisation with headquarters at Salem City, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, West Africa, was founded by God Almighty through the
instrumentality of Saint Gideon Meriodere Urhobo, an anointed servant of Christ, in Lagos in October 1934. The chief mission of the GKS is evangelism, the dispensation of the saving gospel of Christ. Psalm 145:10-12; 119:160; John 17:17-21.
fter 18 years of courageous, unflagging and brilliant exposition of the Scriptures, St. Urhobo left for Zion in heaven on Monday February 25, 1952.
The mantle of leadership then fell on the second President in person of late Brother Ebenezer Temisaren Otomewo, who after 45 years of dedicated, dynamic and meritorious service, slept in the Lord on Sunday April 27, 1997.
On July 19 & 20, 1997, an Executive Board under the chairmanship of Brother (Pa) Matthias Obiesigha Iwoh was elected to carry on with the administration of the Church. At the Ministers' Conference of 2001, the amended constitution of the Church was adopted.
Thereafter, the Assembly of the Lord's Ministry Elders, consisting of Senior Ministers of the Church, held elections to select members of the GKS Executive Board.
is made up of men and women who hear and believe the truth or good news of God's government of righteousness and who have joyfully placed themselves under the direction and protection of Jehovah, the Almighty God and Jesus Christ. (John 8:32; Matthew 24:14; 25:31-40; Psalm 34:7; 91:1-11).
GKS has no other form of worship than which is laid down in the Holy Bible (John 4:21-24; Matthew 6:1-10).
