WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES

Some people say that the Feast of Tabernacles is meant for the Jews only and that it has nothing to do with Christianity. Those who hold this view have no Scripture support or authority: they are therefore very wrong.

Read the following carefully and thoughtfully and you will see for yourself the truth about the Feast.

What is the Feast of Tabernacles?

The Feast of Tabernacles is an important annual feast ordained by the Almighty God to be celebrated not only by the Jews, but by mankind as a whole – “ALL THE FAMILIESNOF THE EARTH” and particularly Christians at the end of the world in which we are now. – Lev. 23:33-44; Zech. 14:16-19; Rom. 3:29-30; 1 Cor. 10:11.

What benefit does one derive or get from the celebration of the Feast?

God said He would bless the celebrants with “rain” which symbolizes His blessings in various ways, and protect them from year to year. (Deut. 16:13; Zech. 14:16-19). To keep God’s laws brings blessings to the faithful. As it is written: “And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He hath commanded us.” – Deut. 6:24,25.

What about those who do not celebrate it?

If it is out of ignorance, they would be excused; but if after being told or well informed about the Feast, they hold in contempt the Feast commandment or refuse to celebrate it, God says He would punish them. – Zech, 14:17-19; Isa. 1:20.

Why do the priests or pastors of other church groups not teach their flocks to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles?

They themselves know that they do not keep God’s commandments faithfully, that is why they often pray: “Almighty and most merciful father: we have erred, and strayed from thy laws. We have left undone things which we ought to have done…” Yes, they HAVE STRAYED FROM GOD’S HOLY LAWS such as that of that of the Feast of Tabernacles which the Founder of Christianity himself observed and which true Christians keep today. THEY THEREFORE HAVE NO EXCUSE EXCEPT THEY REPENT. – Isaiah 9:16; 2 Pet. 3:9.

Why should Christians celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles?

Because (1) the Founder of Christianity – Jesus Christ – celebrated it as an example to his disciples: he in fact played a very prominent role by teaching a large crowd of celebrants openly. (John 7:1-14, 37, 38.) (2) It is clearly stated in the Bible that Jesus Christ “the greater and more perfect tabernacle” of God would be among His children who worship Him in truth at the end of the world in which we are now living. (Ezek. 27:27; Heb. 9:11; Lev. 21:3-7) (3) There is a definite prophetic instrument that in this age of the last days the Feast should be celebrated by all peoples irrespective of race or tribe to the glory of God and for their own blessings. – Zech. 14:16-19; Deut. 6:24,25.

Are Christians to make sacrifices as the Jews of old did during the Feast as required by Mosaic law?

No. Jesus Christ has fulfilled and has thus put an end to that law. (John 1:17,29; Gal. 3:24,26.) he was sacrificed for the sins of all who believed in him and worship God in spirit and in truth. “And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man (Jesus Christ after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever sat doen on the right hand of God.” – Heb. 10:11,12. Christians are therefore not bound to keep the letters of the law but to observe the spirit and it is as exemplified by Christ the Lord and as stated by his apostles. – Heb. 9:27,28; 10:11,12; 1 John 2:1,2; 1 Cor. 2:13,14.

In the light of the foregoing, you will agree that the feast of Tabernacles is of great significance to all the children of God all over the world in this dangerous age that men need God’s protection more than ever before. That the Feast is ordained by God and that it was celebrated by Jesus Christ as an example for his followers has been made quite clear.
