Theme: SERVING GOD IN SINCERITY AND IN TRUTH

Text: “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.” – 1 Peter 3:8.

Comment: This text reminds us once again that we must do the work of the Lord with plainness of mind and love for one another. David the prophet declared, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” (Psalm 133:1-3) Yes, when people serve God with good heart condition, He blesses them with unity and peace. (2 Chronicles 30:12) It was this unity our Lord Jesus Christ prayed for on behalf of the Church. (John 17:11)  And St. Paul charged us thus. “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10) He also exhorts that we should “with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:6) We should be prayerful for God to help us so that we shall always “stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel”. – Philippians 1:27.
