Comment: Ever before Jesus Christ was born into this woeful world of sin, it had been Prophesied that he would be a “light to lighten the Gentiles”. A major feature of his redemptive work was the “recovering of sight to the blind”. Hence he “went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil” bringing in succour to the poor and hopeless.
On one occasion after “Jesus sat at meat in the house” of Matthew who for joy of his heavenly call played host to the Master and the other disciples, came a certain ruler to him for healing, so too was the woman with issue of blood. As in the main text, two blind men affirming their faith in the Lord Jesus were also healed of their visual impairment.
Worshippers of God need to believe in His power to accomplish their desires – food, health, children, shelter and other material possessions. This calls for absolute faith in Him without doubt or equivocation as the Holy Book states, “let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” Anyone who fails to heed this admonition, “let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord”. – James 1:6-8.
