Theme: ABIDING IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH

Text: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains” – Matthew 24:15,16

Comment: The turbulence with which the last days is characterized is enough reason for one to seek refuge from the God of peace, Who alone has the prerogative to grant absolute peace. – Job 34:29;  Isaiah 32:17,18.

The “abomination of desolation” spoken of in prophecy found fulfillment in the defunct League of Nations that was formed in 1919 after the First World War.  Daniel’s description of it as an “abomination that maketh desolate” (Daniel 12:11) is in reference to the desolation the League, (which was an abomination to God) brought to those nations that placed their trust in it, in that, they suffered destruction at the outbreak of the Second World War.  The League thus stood in a holy place in that it was acclaimed “the political expression of God’s Kingdom on earth”.

Since the Kingdom of God has come, those who love to praise God (i.e. Judaea as used in today’s text) should flee into the “Mountains” symbolizing God’s Kingdom Organization all over the world for truth, safety and protection.  This is the only sure way for peoples of the world to be in peace with their Maker and gain life everlasting in the third world.  All who have the opportunity to hear the Kingdom news should not harden their hearts but take advantage of the “acceptable year of the Lord” by fleeing into God’s organization “while it is called today”. – Hebrews 3:7, 8.
