Theme: ABIDING IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH
Text: “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.” – Hebrews 4:9,10.
Comment: God’s thoughts for His sheep have always being of peace, perfect peace that transcends human understanding. The blessings in steadfastly remaining under the shadow of God’s “wings” are immeasurable. Ultimately, He promises to usher His people into His kingdom when it is fully set up, where they shall no more labour in pain to till the soil and grow their food but rely on God’s wholesome providence by His grace. This bespeaks the excellence of His lovingkindness, for which reason “the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.” – Psalm 36:7.
No sacrifice (e.g. efforts, resources etc) is too great to make, neither is any of His ordinances grievous for us to keep, if we are truly desirous to enter into the jubilee awaiting us. Having found our way into that path, it would be most tragic for one to stray from it through unbelief, distractions due to sinful pleasures, temptation, or other devices of the devil, “For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.” – 2 Peter 2:21.
Notwithstanding satan’s plot to take us out of the “narrow way”, God has promised to secure us, by giving “his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” – Psalm 91:11,12.
