Theme: OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS

Text: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” – Joshua 1:8.

Comment: The greatest way to strengthen our relationship with God and be able to avoid and resist temptation is to spend a lot of time in God’s word by reading, meditating, studying and memorizing it. If we invest time and effort doing it, we will grow stronger in faith and be more able to see and avoid temptations. – John 15:7.” “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.” – 1 Corinthians 15:1, 2.

God’s words as written in the Holy Bible, must become our constant companion, with no excuses about not having time. We should make out time daily for meditation and studies of the Scriptures, God will bless us for it, and grant us the grace to withstand temptation when it comes. Apostle James wrote: “Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete.” – James 1:2-4, Living Bible.
