Theme: THE POWER OF PRAYER

Text: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” – Ephesians 3:20.

Comment: That the Almighty God does even more than we ask of Him is clearly expressed in the text for today.  The instance of Hannah who asked for a man child, who will be lent to the LORD was later blessed with three sons and two daughters. (1 Samuel 1:9-11; 2:20,21) Also, when King Solomon was asked by God to make a request, King Solomon asked for wisdom and understanding. The Almighty God said: “Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked. Both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.” – 1 Kings 3:9-13.

Those whose prayers are yet to be answered by God should remain patient and faithful to the Almighty God. The parable of the importunate widow who appealed to a certain judge to avenge her of her adversaries is apt. In concluding that narration, Jesus Christ said: “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the son of man cometh, shall he find faith on earth?” – Luke 18:1-8.
