Theme: ANGER: ITS CAUSES, EFFECTS, CONSEQUENCES AND MANAGEMENT

Text: “The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.” – Proverbs 16:14.

Comment: There is much evil in the world: lack of love, killings, man’s inhumanity to man, leaders betraying trust and feigning “diplomacy”, threats and counter threats snowball into large scale wars, leaving a tale of mind-boggling destruction upon the earth that life expectancy is drastically reduced, all brought about by anger and misuse of the tongue. “A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness” (Proverb 12:23): When Nabal said, ‘Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse?’, he invited calamity upon himself and his household, but for the swift reaction of Abigail his wife, combined with wisdom and soft answer (1 Samuel 25:10-35). Again, Apostle Paul carefully chose his words in King Agrippa’s court, despite insults by Governor Festus who said, “Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. But he (Paul) said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.” Paul’s prudency with words and his humility forced King Agrippa to confess, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian” – Acts 26:24-28.
