Theme: TO DO GOOD AND TO COMMUNICATE, FORGET NOT

Text: “And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not: And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.” – Ruth 2:15, 16.

Comment: The Biblical account of Naomi and her two daughters-in-law, all of whom have lost their husbands, is one that draws sympathy from godly people. Their predicament were worsened by want or extreme poverty. But the Almighty God in accomplishment of His righteous inclination to feed His children (Psalm 136:25; Isaiah 65:13), prepared Boaz, a wealthy kinsman of Elimelech, Naomi’s late husband to sustain them with produce from his farm. “So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.” (Ruth 2:17) The goodwill of Boaz united him to Naomi and her quintessential daughter-in-law. This healthy relationship culminated in the marriage of Boaz to Ruth. (Ruth 4:1-12) The union produced Obed, who, in turn gave birth to Jesse; David was one of the sons of Jesse and from his lineage came our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. – Ruth 4:13-22; Matthew 1:1-6.
