Text: “But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” – Joshua 22:5.
Comment: Serving God Almighty with sincerity, diligence, etc, has great rewards. “Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?” (Malachi 3:14) In the text of today, Joshua the Servant of God reminded his fellow Israelites to “cleave unto him (God), and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Jesus Christ enjoined Christians to eschew what some of the natural Jews did, when he restated: “… This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” – Matthew 15:7-9; Isaiah 29:13; see also Deuteronomy 10:12,13; Colossians 3:23-25; Malachi 3:17,18.
