Theme: MAINTAINING GOOD WORKS

Text: “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” – Hebrews 6:9,10.

Comment: Knowledge of the Bible furnishes us with the understanding that our good works are done for God’s sake, “…and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23,24) Writing on the certainty of God’s promises, St. Paul declared: “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;).” – Hebrews 10:23.

The emphasis therefore is not on year of conversion, duration of service, position attained, or other mundane concerns, but working out one’s salvation according to God’s standard, hence Apostle Paul speaks of serving God “acceptably with reverence and godly fear”. – Hebrews 12:28.
