THE SIGNICANCE OF THE NAMES AND TITLES OF GOD ALMIGHTY
Text: “Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,” – Galatians 1:1-3.
Comment: The Creator of the heavens and the earth is referred to in the text for today as “God the Father”, meaning that He is the Source of all life. The way fathers on earth love and relate with their children is a type of the shield of providence that the Creator has placed over us. Our Lord Jesus Christ enjoins us thus: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you…Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” – Matthew 7:7-11.
He knows best what we need and is liberal in providing them for us. “…for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things”. (Matthew 6:32) When we err, he corrects us so that we may follow the right path. St. Paul stated, “But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?…” – Hebrews 12:8-10; Proverbs 3:12.
