THE DANGER OF TALE BEARING AND RASH JUDGMENT
Text: “LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.” – Psalm 15:1, 3.
Comment: Talebearing and backbiting are among the sins and vices God Almighty expects His true worshippers to run away from. To abide in the Tabernacle of God and be in His holy hill (which simply means to be in God’s Organization), is an honour and privilege any true-seeker of everlasting life should crave from day to day. As verse three of the text for today has implied, those who do not backbite, and who do not destroy their neighbours through talebearing will be found on the favoured side of God Almighty, Who is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) As Christians who seek God’s favour, we should endeavour to avoid talebearing and backbiting so that we will be on the favoured side of our Maker by His grace. Amen.
