Theme: THE DANGER OF APOSTASY
Text: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15.
Comment: The most effective way to avoid apostasy is by the diligent study of the word of God and prayers for God to help one understand His word. David the Psalmist prayed: “Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.” (Psalm 119:34) Attendance to Church meetings will help one study effectively as knowledge will be exchanged with others. (Romans 10:17; Hebrews 10:25) Apostle Paul commended the people of Berea who after listening to the preachers, went home to check the scriptures if the things they heard were in consonance with the written word. (Acts 17:10-12) Christians who do not diligently study the scriptures and keep the written canon, may be swept into apostacy if care is not taken. See Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-6; Revelation 1:3.
