Theme: Self-Examination

Text: “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.  But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.” – 1 Corinthians 11:31, 32.

Comment: Worshippers of God are expected to engage in constant self-judgment for the purpose of making their way right with God always by His grace.  Where one finds himself wanting, he should repent as required of a good Christian.  But when God uses someone else to bring our errors to light, we should humble ourselves to accept our faults in the fear of God for our own good and not justify ourselves. (Psalm 119:59, 60; Proverbs 3:11, 12; Hebrews 12:5, 6, 11) Those who correct the mistakes they are guilty of are hypocrites. (Matthew 7:1-5) Whenever we are chastened in the Lord, it is for our spiritual benefit. (Hebrews 12:5-11)   The Bible itself is meant for correction and reproof “That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” – 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
