Theme: BE YE WISE AS SERPENTS AND HARMLESS AS DOVES

Text: “Hereafter I will not talk much with you:  for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.   Arise, let us go hence.” –  John 14:30,31.

Comment: Spiritual vigilance and alertness are indispensible qualities every true worshipper of God should possess, especially in this age of the end of the world, known as the last days. (2 Timothy 3:1) Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ displayed these virtues. As stated in the text for today, when Christ was talking with his disciples, Satan the devil, the author of confusion showed himself and Jesus Christ had to go out from that place. Christ had the understanding that the time in which God will destroy the devil had not come. – Romans 16:20; Revelation 20:1-10.

The Holy Bible clearly warns: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” – 1 Peter 5:7,8.

Christians should continue to seek God, remain steadfast and devoted to true worship so as to be able to resist the devil by the grace of God. Apostle James states: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.   Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” – James 4:7,8. See also 2 Chronicles 7:14; Luke 21:34-36.
