Theme: MEEKNESS IN GOD’S SERVICE

Text: “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” –  1 Peter 3:4.

Comment: The behavior of women in marriage should reflect a heart of meekness, for the marriage institution is a godly and blessed one and is part of our service to God. These points Apostle Peter highlights in the text for today. How we conduct ourselves in marriage will either give unbelievers reason to respect God or to talk evil of the way of God. Women are expected “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” – Titus 2:5.

The apostle of Christ further brings to light the fact that converts can even be won to the way of God by humble wives who are not materialistic but God fearing. He said “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:” – 1 Peter 3:1-5.
