Theme: MUSIC IN GOD'S SERVICE
INTRODUCTION:
Music is the art of making pleasing combination of sounds having rhythm, melody, or harmony. The Almighty God through His inspired word – The Holy Bible, calls on His creatures to employ music as part of His worship. (Psalm 33:2, 3; 81:1-3; Colossians 3:16) Music does affect one’s thoughts, changes our mood, inspires us, and draws us closer to God; as would be appreciated in considering the Scriptural texts in the next days by the grace of God.
Text: “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.” – Psalm 95:1, 2.
Comment: One of the gifts of God by which man can render praises and thanksgiving to Him is by means of vocal and instrumental music. God Almighty Himself had declared: “This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise” (Isaiah 43:21). And Psalm 33:2, 3 says: “Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise”. Therefore, anyone blessed with a sonorous voice or talented in handling of any type of musical instrument should use such gift to his advantage and to the honour and glory of God Almighty. – 1 Corinthians 10:31.
