Theme: GOD'S WORD - A LAMP TO MY FEET

Text: “O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me”. – Psalm 119:97, 133.

Comment: To “meditate” ordinarily means to reflect on, or keep the mind fixed upon something.  In one of his epistles to his son in the faith, Saint Paul had instructed him to take heed unto the doctrine, and continue in them. (1 Timothy 4:16) On his part, the Psalmist discloses that he meditates on God’s word all day long, adding that with it, through the help of God, he is able to direct his steps in the path of righteousness. By means of internalizing the word of God, we make it difficult, if not impossible for Satan to “get an advantage of us”, through his “cunning craftiness” whereby he lies in wait to deceive. (Ephesians 4:14, 2 Corinthians 2:11) In the light of the above therefore, God’s word is key to conquering sinful pleasures. – Psalm 119:9-11.
