Text: “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” – James 1:25.
Comment: Besides the beauty of oratory, charisma and prestige with which one presents the gospel message, actually, the blessings lie in internalising same, to the letter. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3; Matthew 7:24-27; Luke 11:27, 28) Exposing the deception of some religious leaders in his days, our Lord Jesus Christ upbraided the Scribes and Pharisees, “for they say, and do not.” (Matthew 23:2, 3) God’s word becomes a lamp to the path of those who allow it influence their thoughts and actions, otherwise, in the words of James the apostle, one may end up deceiving himself in that, like one “beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” – James 1:23, 24; Romans 6:4; 1 Peter 1:14.
