Theme: BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL

Text: “And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: For I am the LORD that healeth thee.” – Exodus 15:26.

Comment: Having made wonderful provisions for our wellbeing, through the herbs of the field, (Psalm 104:14; Ezekiel 47:12) we can most conveniently assert that God is the Chief Healer!  One has cause to further appreciate the goodness of God when one is billed for a cylinder of oxygen in the course of receiving medical attention, prompting a reminder of the fact that, He, God Almighty, does not require us His children to pay for the air we breathe in every second. The leading text under consideration informs us of God’s assured care, on the condition of our obedience to His ordinances. The Psalmist attributes the good health we enjoy to the Almighty Father, when he added in verse three of Psalm 103, thus: “who healeth all thy diseases”. In acknowledgement of this, the Prophet Jeremiah, prayed: “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.” – Jeremiah 17:14; James 5:15.
