Text: “If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.” – Job 9:20.
Comment: The Bible admonishes us not to justify our sins and transgressions as Adam did (Job 31:33), but we should confess and refrain from them. The Psalmist declared: “I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid, I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” (Psalm 32:5) The Psalmist further reassured us of God’s willingness to forgive those that confess and forsake their sins when he stated: “For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust”. – Psalm 103:11-14.
