Theme: UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES
Text: “The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?” – Matthew 16:1-3.
Comment: Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, during his earthly ministry, chastised the Pharisees and Sadducees for their inability to discern the signs of the times. In view of the absurdity of the question posed by the Pharisees and Sadducees, Jesus Christ rebuked them for being skillful in reading the indications of the sign for good and bad weather, whereas they were unable to discern the signs of the times. Christ meant that it was because the Pharisees and Sadducees were not spiritually minded and their eyes were closed to spiritual things, so they will not understand the will of God. (1 Corinthians 2:10-14; Romans 8:5-8; Jeremiah 8:7) Those who love righteousness and the salvation of God should prayerfully read and study the Holy Bible to understand and practice the will of God so as to be saved by God in the end by His grace. – Ephesians 5:15-18; Luke 21:34-36; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3, 9; 1 John 2:15-17; 1 Peter 4:7.
