Theme: COMMENTARY ON THE BOOK OF JUDE
Text: “But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.” – Jude 10.
Comment: St. Jude says some people are “brute beasts” in that such ones are children of the devil and will never change their evil ways. They are called “children of the evil one” in Matthew 13:38,39 and “the wicked” in Psalm 58:3. These sort of people will multiply in the last days when the “wicked will do wickedly, the wicked will not understand but the wise will understand.” – Daniel 12:8-10.
In the text for today Apostle Jude says one of their characteristics is that these wicked people “speak evil of those things which they know not”. In other words they make jest of the doctrines of the Christian faith, considering them foolish and as mere fantasies. St. Paul wrote: “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God… But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:11-14) People of God should not be surprised when these people manifest themselves. They should resist them and not allow themselves to be intimidated by their loud claims. – Proverbs 19:25; 21:11; 22:10
