Text: “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” – Psalm 107:21, 22.
Comment: Having disclosed his determination to “bless the LORD at all times”, King David goes on to give the invite for all to “magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” (Psalm 34:1, 3, 8) In this era when animal sacrifices have been abolished, what we justifiably owe our Maker is the “sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Hebrews 13:15) A practical demonstration of the foregoing is the statement of Sarah in Genesis 21:6, 7, after she was safely delivered of her son, Isaac. One could easily imagine the depth of joy, relief, and fulfilment in her while she extolled the name of God. God Almighty in His own time will reverse the condition of His people for good, so that, to the shame of the devil, the righteous shall in turn, live to declare His goodness, to His glory and praise. – Psalm 118:14-17.
