Theme: AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES

Text: “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;” – Ephesians 4:1, 2.

Comment: For there to be growth and prosperity in any society or community, the people must first learn to live in peace. And to achieve this, they must be humble enough, to forbear and forgive one another. Apostle Paul, having this understanding, therefore made the statement in the text for today.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ stated, “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand”. (Mark 6:24,25). And it is commonly said, “United we stand, divided we fall”.

All, must therefore understand, that except we do away with our differences, learn to sincerely forgive and forget, and come together to seek the face of God in one accord, we would not achieve any success. Sometimes we wonder why things don’t go as expected or why we seem to be stuck in a spot, especially in spiritual matters; the answer is not far-fetched, it is because our hearts are clouded with so much hate, that our prayers become of non-effect and our differences set us so far apart, that we cannot come together to pray, think or commune together and make decisions that will benefit us all.

We should understand that our individual differences, if we don’t let them go, will only burden us by making our hearts heavy. Let us therefore always let out steam and always forgive and forget. For it is only by so doing, that we would be working worthy of this call of God. – Matthew 6:14, 15.
