Theme: WATCH AND PRAY

Text: “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:1,2.

Comment: To watch, that is, to read the Bible diligently and continuously with faith as to understand the signs of the times, and pray constantly so as to get the blessings of God now and salvation in the end, is the fulfilled Christian life we all earnestly desire.  This approach graciously handed down by Christ, the Saviour of sinful mankind ensures that we constantly practise the righteousness of God.

The end of all things is fast approaching.  Mankind should therefore reflect soberly, giving themselves to reading and meditation on the word of God, coupled with prayers.  We need the grace of God to be spared in the day of the Lord’s anger. (1 Peter 4:17,18;  Isaiah 24:1,6;  Zechariah 13:8).  Seeing that the end is near, we should heed the charge of our Lord Jesus Christ who exhorted us thus: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares… Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” – Luke 21:28,34-36.

Due to the spiritual dangers involved as regard our future existence in God’s order of things, we that are highly privileged to be in the Truth are admonished to make the most of it, and not to be careless.  – Hebrews 6:4-6;  10:26,27.
