Theme: OVERCOMING BEHAVIOURAL DISORDER

Text: “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” – Matthew 5:38, 39.

Comment: Revenge is an Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). Some persons find it difficult to forgive or let go a hurt until they have retaliated or paid back their offender. Some can nurse anger or hurt for years as was the case with Absalom who nursed a hurt against Amnon for two years before carrying out the revenge on him for defiling his sister, Tamar. (2 Samuel 13:22-29) The Holy Bible admonished us not to render evil for evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:15; 1 Peter 3:9) One should not use his tongue to affirm revenge. (Proverbs 24:29) Love even your enemies. (Matthew 5:43, 44); Use good to pay the evil done to you. – Romans 12:17-21.
