Text: “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation”. – 1 Thessalonians 5:7, 8.
Comment: The knowledge of the truth by which true Christians are enlightened is of great advantage in the spiritual warfare but where it is not backed with faith, then there is danger, and resistance to Satan’s temptations and devices will either be weak or not be there at all. (Proverbs 24:10). On this note, St. Paul exhorted the Christians to “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren…” (1 Peter 5:8, 9). By and large, the need for all to have faith cannot be overstressed. – 1 Timothy 1:19, 20, Hebrews 10:22-25.
