Theme: ANGER: ITS CAUSES, EFFECTS, CONSEQUENCES AND MANAGEMENT

Text: “Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished ot alone in his iniquity” – Joshua 22:20.

Comment: Those who have taken up the mantle to serve God in Spirit and in Truth in order to obtain eternal life are advised to be circumspect, i.e. being watchful to avoid making costly mistakes (Exodus 23:13; 1 Timothy 4:16)  When Achan took the accursed thing in the destroyed city of Jericho, the whole congregation of Israel incurred the wrath of God and suffered for it, till Achan and his household were destroyed to remove the curse (Joshua 7:1-26) When matters arise among brethren, it is profitable to consider carefully, prayerfully and to choose the side of righteousness for personal safety. Chastising king Jehoshaphat of Judah for his ungodly union with Ahab, Prophet Jehu told him, “Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? Therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD” – 2 Chronicles 19:2; see also 2 Chron. 32:24, 25; Psalm 7:11.
