Text: “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.” – Acts 3:6, 7.
Comment: In the dispensation of the good news or saving gospel of Christ, Apostle Peter and John were confronted with the challenge of a lame man begging for alms at the gate of the temple. Expecting that the apostles would reward him with some financial gratification, he instead got an unsolicited gift and favour from God which far exceeds pecuniary consideration. Saint Peter addressing him said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.” (Acts 3:6, 7) This miraculous deed endeared the men of God to the heart of this man, “And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.” (Acts 3:8) The Psalmist under God’s inspiration said: “Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.” – Psalm 86:17.
