Theme: Casting All Our Burden On The Lord

Text: “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord”. – Psalm 27:13, 14.

Comment: Patience or waiting on God’s time is very vital as one’s prayers may not be instantly answered by God. He has purpose and time for everything. (Ecclesiastes 3:1) He knows the appropriate time that the desire or need we have prayed for would greatly benefit us when granted. Hence, He grants us our request at the time He considers best for us. This underscores the need to “Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for him…” -Psalm 37:7.

The Patriarch, Abraham prayed for a child in his matrimonial home, and God assured him that his request would be granted. (Genesis 15:1-6) Abraham waited patiently, and when he had attained the age of 100, God granted his request. (Genesis 21:1-7) St Paul admonished Christians to take a cue from Abraham when he stated: “For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise”.  This was the example for his exhortation to wit: “And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” – Hebrews 6:11,12, 13-15.
