Text: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” – John 13:34, 35.
Comment: One of the proofs of true discipleship, as stated by our Lord Jesus Christ, is love. The Almighty God clearly demonstrated His love by sending Jesus Christ into the world to ransom mankind from sin and death. (Romans 5:8; John 3:16, 17) Thus, as true worshippers, we are expected to show love “one to another”, as stated in the leading text. Apostle John exhorts: “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.” – 1 John 4:8-12. See also Matthew 5:16.
