Theme: Fortitude
Text: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7.
Comment: In this verse, the Apostle Paul assures us that the spirit which God has given His children is that of power and a sound mind. To be mortally afraid now and then is not a mark of one who has the spirit of God. Great faith helps us to show fortitude. As Christians we must overcome fear by going into prayer in all circumstances. Praying to God in times of extremities is a way of demonstrating faith and courage. This in turn will give us the fortitude to face situations. We should trust in the Almighty and Infinite power of JEHOVAH God, the God of gods, and the Strength of Spiritual Israel to deliver us. The Prophet Isaiah exhorts: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength”. – Isaiah 26:3-4.
