Theme: BUILDING NEW JERUSALEM

Text: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”  – Galatians 6:7,8.

Comment:  Some people are motivated to contribute to the building of New Jerusalem in order to be noticed and praised. This is tantamount to sowing to the flesh and also tantamount to the “pride of life” which is of the flesh and the world.  -1 John 2:15,16.

Those who have been called to the way of truth and life – New Jerusalem, are those who make up the Church.  The Church is not the Service Hall or other amenities. It is the members. So if the members are doing well spiritually and materially, the Church is doing well.  If members are hungry, suffering and sick generally, the Church is hungry, suffering and sick.  Contributing therefore to the upliftment of members spiritually and materially is contributing to building New Jerusalem. Apostle Paul exhorts, “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”  – Hebrew 13:16.

Scripture exhorts us: “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.” (Hosea 10:12) We are further encouraged by the words of the Psalmist to wit: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. {joy: or, singing} He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” – Psalm 126:5, 6.
