Text: “Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” – Psalm 149:1, 3, 4.
Comment: The art of singing is a gift from God. Raising our voices in songs can bring pleasure to us and to our Creator. We can voice our joy, love, adoration, praises and thanksgiving to God through melodious songs. As in today’s text; “the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” (verse 4) This was seen when the musical body in the days of King Solomon performed in unison and rendered melodious music to praise and thank God for His goodness. The glory of the LORD appeared in form of cloud and filled the temple. This was a divine appreciation and expression of pleasure for good music. (2 Chronicles 5:12-14) Thus, spiritual music dedicated God’s glory attracts His grace.
