Theme: COMMENTARY ON THE BOOK OF JUDE

Text: “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” – Jude 14,15.

Comment:   Enoch was the son of Jared, and father of Methuselah.  Before his death Enoch had prophesied about the judgment of the living, the preaching of the truth, which will be executed through Jesus Christ, using his saints before punishment will follow.

Before God punishes people He first gives them opportunity to learn righteousness through the preaching of the truth.  The Bible says that “…when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.” (Isaiah 26:9)  The prophet David stated that  “the LORD … cometh, to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth”. (Psalm 96:13) The true Churches of Christ are active in this age, telling the people to “Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow”, (Isaiah 1:17) so that if they are willing and obedient to serve God they will eat the good of the land. (Isaiah 1:19) But those who are contentious, and do not want to obey the truth cannot gainsay the word of the Lord for no one can do anything against the truth but for it. (2 Corinthians 13:8) Those who want to be saved must heed the warning from God through Jesus Christ and fear God knowing that “the hour of his judgment is come”. – Revelation 14: 6,7; Ecclesiastes 12:13,14.
