Theme: MANAGING CHRONIC ILLNESSES

Text: “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever”  – 1 John 2:17.

Comment:  Since the fall of man, the devil has in every age introduced various beliefs, customs and practices which are contrary to the will of God.  Many of these practices appear pleasing to the senses in the short term – and therein lies the deceit.  In the long run they breed confusion, distress and disappointment. A ready source of trouble has to do with satisfaction of sexual desires. The devil encourages men and women to indulge in acts of immorality through provocative wears, pornography, homosexuality, live-in arrangements, wife-swapping, nudist camps, wild parties, and so on. The consequences could be seen in the large number of teenage pregnancies, single parent families, venereal diseases, divorces, lawlessness, lack of feeling for each other, depression, etc.  that many societies are now suffering.

Several chronic illnesses that afflict mankind are due to refusal to do the will of God. God stated through His servant Jeremiah, “Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.” (Jeremiah 2:19) Those who learn their lessons quickly and adjust themselves to do  the will of God will have mercy.  But those who are contentious and refuse to follow the truth will have indignation and wrath from God Almighty Who is no respecter of persons.  – Romans 2:6-11.
