Theme: BE YE ALL OF ONE MIND

Text: “And God saw their works that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”- Jonah 3:10.

Comment:  There is no limit to what a people can attain, once they are in agreement. However, obedience is required at any point in time for people to be able to achieve this goal. The king of Nineveh, on hearing about the doom that will befall him and his nation, called for fasting for both human beings and animals.  They all obeyed, fasted and repented of their sins and God forgive them.

If we unitedly seek God in righteousness, He will bless us and avert evils from our individual and collective lives. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Unity to achieve common goal is not only through prayers.  Together we can make impact, even in all spheres of our Christian faith. The exploit of God Almighty in bringing down the wall of Jericho through the allied forces of the Israelites Army readily come to mind.  The spies who united to relay positive report spurred the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua who declared their victory on the seventh day “… Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city” (Joshua 6:16).  Indeed, unity is strength!
