Theme: GOD'S WORD - A LAMP TO MY FEET

Text: “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4.

Comment: Overcoming temptation comes with a feeling of accomplishment. This feat is achieved by the help of God, using the knowledge of the truth He has given us, by His grace. It could be recalled that, during the temptation of Jesus Christ, at the instance of the devil, wherein Satan asked Christ to bow and worship him, promising to give him all the kingdoms of the world, Christ upbraided him thus: “Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” This was in reference to the words of Moses in Deuteronomy 6:13. Scripture states “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) The passage for the day therefore amplifies the need for all to strive to acquire the knowledge of God, which King Solomon designated “the principal thing”, the lack of which brings about avoidable calamites. – Hosea 4:6; Proverbs 19:2.
