Theme: WE SHALL ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW

INTRODUCTION

Whatever one does (whether good or evil) in this world, one would either enjoy the reward or suffer the consequences.  By our actions or words, we are sowing seeds which fruits we shall reap in a determined time as everyone must give account to God, Who is the Judge of all the earth. (Genesis 18:25) Hence, this topic is a wake-up call for us to be very careful of whatever we do in this world because there will definitely be a day of reckoning.

Text: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” – Galatians 6:7.

Comment: The justice and righteousness of God clearly shows that everyone will be rewarded according their works. It follows that no one will lose the reward of their good deeds and likewise nobody will escape the consequences of their evil deeds. Just as the farmer who plants cassava would not reap cocoyam but cassava, so whatever we do in life we shall surely reap it in the end.  There are those who are given to wickedness and are still enjoying the good things of life while there are others who are given to righteous dispositions and still go through persecutions at the instance of the devil. (Ecclesiastes 8:14; Psalm 73:2-18) Isaiah the prophet admonished those who do righteousness to continue as they shall not go unrewarded while the wicked will be punished by God. “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.” – Isaiah 3:10, 11.
