Theme: AVOIDING BESETTING SINS

Text: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”. – 1 Peter 5:8.

Comment: St. Peter admonishes believers to be sober-minded and watchful, indicating the need for spiritual alertness and readiness to resist the temptations and deceptions from the devil. (2 Corinthians 2:11) He reminded Christians that spiritual warfare is real and the need for all to be on guard against the schemes of the devil. St. Paul also stated: “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:6-8.
