Theme: Fruits of the Spirit

Text: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22, 23.

Comment: The word “temperance” as used in the text for today means “emotional restraint, self-control or moderation in action, thought or feeling”. Temperance is one of the merciful dispositions of the Almighty Father which He exhibits in full measure towards the human race. (Psalm 103:8-10) Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob restrained himself against his older siblings who sold him to the Midianites. (Genesis 37:28) On two occasions when King Saul was fast asleep David swooped on him but spared his life. (1 Samuel 24:1-22; 26:1-25) Worshippers of God should embrace the virtue of temperance and harness it properly for their own spiritual benefit.
