Theme: AVOIDING AND OVERCOMING ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOURS

Text: “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.  – Ephesians 2:1, 2

Comment:  By the grace brought by Jesus Christ, those who believe in the truth are renewed in mind and therefore walk in newness of life. The gospel is now going out to all those in satan’s captivity, those whose lives have been dominated by him and are walking contrary to the will of God to embrace the truth and enjoy the freedom of Christ. There are those who have fallen into the trap of “learned helplessness” and who believe that they are incapable of doing anything good or bettering their conditions and so have given themselves to loose living. They are convinced that there is no way they can get their lives in order because they  cannot muster the amount of effort and resources needed to change their lives for the better. This thinking results in even lower self-esteem because such ones do not believe in their self-worth and value anymore. But one is never too old or too far gone to accept Christ and be a new creature. (2 Corinthians 5:17) The individual must accept the reality that he is the one who could successfully change and control himself by the power of God. He should therefore be able to keep in check all self-destructive, addictive, irrational, and unacceptable behaviors.  These behaviours are barriers to one’s overall success in life. It was St. Paul who said “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”          – Philippians 4:13
