Theme: Fruits of the Spirit

Text: “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Comment: Forgiveness means to pardon, overlook, or to let go of grudges, malice and bitterness. It is an attribute of the Almighty God by which He keeps His heritage from destruction. (Micah 7:18) Knowing this, King David proclaimed: “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared”. (Psalm 130:3, 4) During his earthly ministry, Jesus Christ demonstrated this virtue when he forgave a certain adulterous woman. (John 8:3-11) Our Lord Jesus Christ laid down rules for forgiveness that if a person offends us seven times (that is, as many times as possible) and returns to apologise to us, he should be forgiven. – Luke 17:3, 4.
