Comment: As individuals, life itself places enormous responsibilities on our shoulders. These responsibilities may become sources of worry and anxiety to us making us go the extra mile by putting great effort to work hard in carrying such burdens as much as is humanly possible. The fact is that there is an extent to which human effort can go and beyond which man cannot help himself out of the overwhelming cares and needs of life. In this regard, the Psalmist admonished us to cast, throw or handover such cares to God and He will take care of such because He is a God that cares for His people as stated in the text for today. Our Saviour says: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30.
St Peter spoke in this vein when he exhorted us to cast all our cares upon Him in that He cares for us. (1 Peter 5:6, 7) While casting our cares on God in prayers, we should guard against sin because sin prevents one from getting answer to one’s prayers. (Isaiah 59:1-2) Finally, the Psalmist admonished us to have the fear of God because “He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them”. – Psalm 145:19.
