Theme: THE WILL OF GOD

Text: “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” – 1 Corinthians 10:11.

Comment: The last day is a terrible period for man. It marks the end of this world leading to the ushering in of God’s Kingdom fully established where man will live everlastingly in perfect peace and happiness (Revelation 21:1,2,4,5; 1 John 2:25). This last day is a time when there would be many things that would drag men away from God at the instance of the devil. St Paul said: “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived”. (2 Timothy 3:13,1-5) An example is something that serves as a pattern of behavior to be imitated (a good example) or not to be imitated (a bad example). The Bible is written under God’s inspiration. It is therefore the will of God that those living in these last days should have the numerous examples in the Bible to guide them in righteousness and scare them away from evil for our good. From stories of Abraham, Abel, Rahab, Sarah, the woman of Shunem, etc, we learn works of faith in God, patience and other virtues. Cain, King Saul, Jezebel are people whose evil inclinations and how it ended badly with them teaches us to avoid such vices. St Paul also admonished us in Romans 15:4: “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
