Theme: THE END OF THE WICKED

Text: “Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?”- Daniel 3:15.

Comment: God Almighty demonstrated His Almightiness and His faithfulness to His people when He freed the three faithful Jews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and thereby humbled King Nebuchadnezzar, making him to realize that, though a king, he was a mere mortal. (Daniel 3:12) Incensed by what he thought were the impetuosity of the three Jews, in refusing to bow down to his image, the king directed that the intensity of the fire be increased seven times.  The furnace was so hot that the heat even killed the mighty men who carried the three Jews and threw them into it.  However, by the miracle of JEHOVAH, the furnace did no hurt to the three men “nor was an hair of their hair singed neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them”. Nebuchadnezzar then was compelled to declare: “Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.” – Daniel 3:27-29.

It is on the basis of acts of faith that God delivers His people. “Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” – Jeremiah 33:2,3.
