Text: “Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.” – Proverbs 20:18.
Comment: God told Moses the person to use for the work of the Tabernacle. He said He had put His spirit in him “to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work. And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan…” (See also Exodus 35:32-35) It is not everyone who knows his craft that could teach it well. But Bezaleel and Aholiab could do both efficiently. Those whom God has given gifts should use them to work for His glory and the wellbeing of their fellowmen.
When David was to build his house, Hiram king of Tyre “sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons…” (2 Samuel 5:11) In the time of Solomon the king, he requested skilled men from the king of Tyre saying, “…for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians”. (1Kings 5:6) One needs wisdom to carefully mobilize men and materials to ensure the success of a venture. “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established”. (Proverbs 24:3-5) A talent and an enterprise would however come to ruin due to lack of integrity, hence the qualifications list for high offices in the work of God. – 1 Timothy 3:1-5; Titus 1:4-9; Ecclesiastes 10:1.
